Today I attended the main service and I like the pastor! He preachers in a way that is interesting and easy to understand. In short, I totally understand and moved by what was said today during sermon. That is why I want to share with you this really awesome piece of news! Simply awesome. Trust me it is worth reading, I promise I will give the main point and application of it.
Today’s sermon is taken from Ephesians 2:1-22 Extreme makeover: from foreigners to fellow citizens. What really struck me was… How do we treat the immigrants that come to Singapore? Do we see them in disgust and a threat? Or do we see it as a mission that God brought to our doorstep? Remember that we were once alienated and foreigners from God and our ancestors were also like those immigrant, coming here to seek a better life and to seek a better future. Spring from our memories that we were once slaves and aliens that we were made fellow citizen, so we should treat those who are recognized as salves and aliens on our land well. Look through the lenses of God and not of the world. What amazed me is that God uses the different forces to spread His word and greatness to all parts of the world. How? Globalisation was mastermind by God. Through globalisation, it is more efficient in spreading his word than spending a missionary to a remote place. Through globalisation, we have China and India immigrants building our buildings and Filipinos maid helping us cook and clean. Aren’t we suppose to treat them with due respect and not cheat them or look down on them? We were once like that, remember that. Let’s us be colourblind, they are like us, it doesn’t matter the skin colour, we were as made one. Before he ended the sermon, he said that he lived in an area where the immigrants will stay. The immigrants would usually sit around the void deck to chit chat and drink soft drinks or liquor. One evening, his children made a comment that they smell. He quickly corrected them, he said "They smell because they work extremely hard to build our flats and buildings we live in." This really speaks to me and I think that I agree with what he said. God is truely amazing.^^ Next time see an immigrant, smile. If you want to hear the sermon (which I strongly encouarge) go check out this website: http://www.livingpraise.org.sg/pulpit_03.html
