Day 5 of Hong Kong trip: Wednesday, December 9, 2009 10:26 PM
Okay, today was pretty special. Usually my family would go to some local shop to have breakfast but today had MacDonald’s. Not really supportive of that idea as MacDonald’s is an international company and to come all the way to Hong Kong to eat MacDonald’s is not worth it considering the fact that MacDonald’s could be found in Singapore. However, what that makes it worth is that different countries have different type menu. Like the tea they serve in Hong Kong MacDonald’s have milk added in advance and the packing of the pancakes or big breakfast is different.
Later the day, went to a newly discovered destination in Hong Kong—The Noah’s ark. We had to take a boat to another Island. The Noah’s ark was not really ready as in there were certain items that where left in bubble wrap on the floor. My best guess is that The Noah’s ark just opened. Overall, the layout of having displays in the ark itself is amazing. My favourite part was the walls of mirror (can be found in science centre I think), as it alters how we look in the mirror. Like become thinner, fatter, have longer legs and blah blah. It is my favourite part is because my youngest sister, 2 ¾ years old sister, was crying and throwing her tantrum when we entered the Noah’s ark but she laughed when she saw herself in the mirrors. Yeah, save my ears from the crying.
This day dinner was the best and the worst. The dinner was a buffet. Okay, the worst is because I ate duck lungs. Ewwwwwwwww…….. I know it is some rare dish like bridnest, but once man’s meat is another man’s poison. Yuck. But the bread below it was nice. I guess it looks really nice when the chef was cooking it so I got once piece. Since there is no dish sign seen, I thought it is pork or chicken. I guessed I was wrong. Trust me I did not eat the whole piece of duck lungs, I ate one bite and realized it is neither chicken nor pork. IT IS LIKE soft and tangy and jelly-like with a taste of like some fats. I learn that read the dish sign or ask what the dish is before taking it. Looks I am not that adventurous when it comes to food and the organ parts of an animal. I also realize that the buffet have quite a lot of organ-related dish, that is why I quickly skipped to the dessert. The dinner was the best because of the dessert. There was a corner filled with dessert ranging from quality chocolates to different flavour of ice-cream to cakes and most importantly the chocolate fondue. It was like just awesome. I had never being served so much dessert before!!!! I wish I had skipped the duck lung dish and head straight to the dessert table. There are also pancakes with a variety of syrup. From the dessert table, I was inspired to make a type of cake. I will go and try out! There was also chef who stationed at the salad area to help to mix the salad with the dressing. The best part was the meal was free because in my parent’s hotel room there were some problems with the lighting and got to be fixed at night since the light blink in the middle of the night. So to make up, the hotel arranges a dinner for us. Praise the Lord!
There was an embarrassing moment during the dinner. I went to take the ice-cream from the dessert table. You can make a choice between cup or cone. The chef there stationed at the dessert table started talking to me in Cantonese, a language I do not understand. So I stared back blankly and let out a “huh? I want cone. ” Hopefully, I answered his question. Luckily, the chefs exchanged station once in a while. So I was able to go back to the dessert table. I had a video of the dessert table, will upload when i know how to tranfer.
