Happy Lunar New Year!
This is the third time that I remembered having to celebrate Chinese New Year on the Sunday.
I am not complaining but I find that God is somehow testing a Christian’s faith.
One could go ahead with the celebration or could come for service before heading off to celebrate the New Year.
Well, my father will ensure that the family attends church and I respect that. All I will have is lesser number of ang baos collected. However, as the Bible says something about seeking the Lord’s kingdom first and the Lord will bless us. The amount that I did not get to collect, as I did not visit those relative, may not add up to the amount that I will learn during the sermon that day.
So I conclude it is a gain.
Anyway, one thing about Chinese New Year that I love is being able to see those cousins and uncles and aunties that I never see for one year, unless there is weddings or some other family gathering. The thing about being at my age, still schooling and not fully adult, is the older relatives do not ask so much about my personal stuff like the guy in the KFC advertisement. As I am yet to start studying for the career I want to peruse and I am yet to have my first boyfriend. I am not hinting anything, seriously.
My grandparents have a lot of siblings, so in short it is beneficial to me but not so much on my parents.
This is one reason behind supporting the government in their quest to encourage more couples to have more children.
Well, the rational behind this is that it is said that once one is married it is the time where one have to start to give ang baos to the children and those single people.
So if one do not have children, then they will be giving and not receiving.
Whereas, if one is married and have children, it is a win-win situation where there is giving and receiving.
Okay, what am I talking???
I am not even married.
Anyway, my grandfather (my father’s side) has 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
So in short, my grandfather’s family could form one football team.
So many people!!
Maybe I am someone who likes the family to have many siblings, as I find that it is more lively and cozy.
Come on!
I have three siblings, don’t look so surprised and close that mouth of yours!
My mom also come from a family were there is 8 children, including my mom. At my materal grandmother’s house, the phone rang and my mom picked up the phone. Then she shouted, “Da jie!” Then my youngest sister shouted to my da jie asking her to answer the phone when the call meant for my mom’s da jie.
Haha.
I did not get to see that really cute cousin of mine.
I meant cute as in referring to toddlers.
I scared your think otherwise.
My father asked if we wanted to visit one of my uncles, my sisters chorus a "no" as we know that uncle usually scares us he is very fierce and strict. Just like my dad, as that uncle actually took care of my dad for about a year. I hope that when I grow up I will be as fierce and strict like my father but with a gentle touch to it.
I am a girl!
Cannot so fierce one.
