CHEERLEADING!!!!! Saturday, March 27, 2010 12:18 AM
I remembered telling my secondary school friends that I wanted to join cheerleading in JC, however, I heard how “dangerous” the sport is and majority of the JCs do not have cheerleading as a CCA.
So I sort of abandon the thought of joining cheerleading as a CCA and turn to something else that interest me—photography.
I also never imagine myself doing cheerleading.
Seriously.

However, now here I am, perform one whole routine in front of the whole school.
How amazing is that?!

Rewind to one and a half months ago, where I it all begins, I remembered that I was rather reluctant to stay back in school till 8.30pm to attend the cheerleading which starts like 2 to 3 hours after my lessons end.
Starting cheerleading initially, I was extremely cautious of my weight. I mean seriously, if one is light then I will be so much easier to be the flyer (the one when “thrown up”).
However, after the whole process, the weight of the flyers is not the most important factor to make the flyer good and able to hit the stunts, as it requires the flyer, back support and bases to use the correct techniques to hit the stunts perfectly.

There are times where I have to go home like super late and never had enough time to do homework and to ensure enough sleep.
Those times are something that I will remember.
Cheerleading though took up most of my time, but I do not feel that I lack anything.
Let me explain, I was in band during my secondary school days, so the schedule for the practices were 3 times per week, so it is somewhat hectic especially when there was a competition up ahead where the number of practice would increase to nearly the entire week.
Joining a not so happening CCA in JC, I somehow have this emptiness and an uncomfortable feeling in me as I never had so much time in my hands.
Therefore, joining cheerleading indeed fill up the “emptiness” in me.
I guess I am used to having limited time, so I will always maximizes my time.

Enough of what happened one and a half months ago, today was D-day.
As one of the cheerleading instructor said, “DO or DIE day.”
Today was the track and field meet, which includes the cheerleading competition component.
I am proud to say that I am a seasoned performer so I know how to handle the adrenaline rush I experience before the whole performance started.
My heart was like beating rapidly and nearly came out of my mouth, but breathing in and out and praying does give me some internal peace.
I gave my best shot during the whole performance and I have no regrets.
Though there was somewhat a major mistake made by my group and the undesirable results, I am glad to have gone through the entire process and to make new friends, both the senior and junior.
The whole cheetah cheerleading group was rather emotional at the end.
I like to say that failure is success’ mother.
I will be back next year, hopefully, so the other houses watch out hor!
What I am proud is that within one and a half month, all the cheerleading groups were able to put on a spectacular show, it is really amazing!
Cheerleading is no longer a very dangerous sport once each individual does there own part to make it safe.

I love the cheerleading outfit!!!!
When I got home after the dinner with the rest of the cheerleaders from cheetah, my hair was like wild, dry grass due to the hair spray.
Haha.
Boy, it was sure a tough time washing my hair but I like the smell. ^^
